Bhubaneswar, Jan 14: The BJP on Sunday alleged that public money of Rs 40,000 crore was misappropriated in Odisha during the Covid-19 pandemic, with 51% PC taking practice persisting in force in the government sector. 

Addressing a Press conference, the BJP said that corruption-related information came out from the local fund audit of the government. From 2020 to 2022, BJD was looting the State exchequer, when people were fighting with the Coronavirus. 

The State government has failed to provide a utilization certificate (UC) against Rs 40,000 crore spent in panchayats, district councils and urban areas during the Covid-19 pandemic, alleged the party.

Due to corruption and irregularities, all the blocks have been fined Rs 400 crore. But the government is not collecting the fine amount. Rs 2.61 crore has been misappropriated in Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik's Hinjli constituency. 

Besides, it has been revealed from the audit that the Awas scheme has not been implemented properly. The BJD has become a party of corrupts. The BJP will organise agitations at the grassroots level on this issue, said the leaders.
