Koraput, Dec 27: Odisha Vigilance arrested Niranjan Satapathy, Forester of Semiluguda Forest Range under Koraput Forest Division, on charges of possessing disproportionate assets.
Officials stated that Satapathy was taken into custody following raids and verification of his assets, which were found to be far beyond his known sources of income. He will be forwarded today to the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar.
Based on searches, investigators revealed that the accused officer was found in possession of disproportionate assets including 2 multi storeyed palatial buildings at Bhubaneswar and 1 in Koraput, 7 high value plots, gold approx 1 kg, deposits Rs.66.42 lakhs, cash Rs.9.28 lakhs,1 four wheeler, etc, which he could not account for satisfactorily.

In this connection, Bhubaneswar Vigilance PS case No.31/2025
has been registered against Niranjan.
