SOA President Felicitates Neurosurgeon Ashok Mohapatra For Being Conferred Padma Shri

Bhubaneswar, Jan. 27: Eminent neurosurgeon and Principal Advisor (Health Sciences) at Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA) in Bhubaneswar, Dr. Ashok Kumar Mahapatra was on Monday felicitated by SOA Founder President Prof. Manojranjan Nayak on being conferred with the Padma Shri for the year 2025.
Dr. Mahapatra is among four eminent personalities from Odisha, who have been selected on Saturday for the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award, for their contribution to the fields of medicine, art and literature.
He became a household name in Odisha after he headed a team that conducted the rare craniopagus surgery of conjoined twins Jaga-Kalia at AIIMS in New Delhi in 2017.
Dr. Mahapatra, who headed the neurosurgery department at AIIMS, New Delhi and was appointed the first Director of AIIMS, Bhubaneswar, also served SOA as its Vice-Chancellor.

Prof. (Dr.) Prasenjeet Mohanty, SOA’s Pro-Vice Chancellor, Prof. Jyoti Ranjan Das, Dean (Student’s Welfare), Prof. Ayaskanta Mohanty, Dean, Institute of Business and Computer Studies (IBCS) and Prof. Manoranjan Das, Associate Dean, IBCS, were present on the occasion.
