Bhubaneswar, May 12: Voting for the first phase of simultaneous Lok Sabha and assembly elections in Odisha covering four parliamentary constituencies will take place on Monday.

Polling is scheduled for Nabarangpur, Koraput, Kalahandi, and Berhampur Lok Sabha seats, along with 28 assembly segments under these constituencies.

A total of 37 MP candidates and 243 MLA candidates, including heavyweight leaders from the BJP, BJD, and Congress, are contesting in the first phase assembly elections in Odisha.

Former MP Balabhadra Majhi, MLA Pradeep Panigrahi, Ex-MLA Damburu Sisa are among the prominent candidates from the BJP, while key BJD leaders like MP Ramesh Majhi, Ex-MP Pradeep Majhi, MLA Dibya Shankar Mishra and Bhrugu Baxipatra, are in the fray for tomorrow's polling.

From the Congress, MP Saptagiri Ulaka, MLA Taraprasad Bahinipati, OPCC president Sarat Pattanayak and former Union Minister Bhakta Das are among those vying for seats.

The voting will begin at 7 AM and end at 6 PM.

Around 62, 87,000 voters will exercise their franchise at 7,303 polling centres in the first phase of general elections in the State tomorrow.

Moreover, over 1,264 polling stations, including all booths in Maoist-affected areas, have been identified as critical booths.
