Sundargarh: PMAY-Gramin Geo Tagger Caught Taking Bribe

Sundargarh, Dec 2: Odisha Vigilance apprehended a Geo Tagger (PMAY-Gramin) in Sundargarh district for allegedly demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 3000 from a poor PMAY beneficiary, officials said on Saturday.
The accused official has been identified as Nakula Mohanta, Geo Tagger (PMAY-Gramin) of Talabahali Gram Panchayat under Lahunipada block in the district.
Complt. informed the Vigilance Authority over TOLLFREE NO-1064. Accordingly, Vigilance Officials rushed to the spot and nabbed accused Sri Mohanta while taking bribe money. In this connection, Rourkela Vig PS Case No.30/2023, U/s 7 A P.C. (Amd) Act, 2018 regd. Investigation on.

According to Vigilance sources, Mohanta had demanded the bribe from a poor PMAY beneficiary for Geo tagging of his PMAY house for release of the next installment.
The PMAY beneficiary however informed the Vigilance Department over TOLLFREE NO-1064 in this connection and sought action against the accused Geo Tagger.

Accordingly, Vigilance Officials rushed to the spot and nabbed accused Mohanta while he was taking the bribe money.
In this connection, a case has been registered against accused Mohanta at Rourkela Vigilance police station under Section 7 of
Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. Further investigation was underway, the Vigilance official said.
