Koraput, Mar 27: In a tragic incident, one passenger died and as many as 20 are injured, 10 of them critically, after a private bus overturned on National Highway 326 (NH 326) at Podagada under Sadar police station limits in Koraput district last night.
According to the information, the private bus named Khambeswari was on its way from Malkangiri to Berhampur with 40 passengers.
Only after an hour of starting the journey the bus rammed into an electric pole and overturned. In the accident one passenger died and 20 were injured.
It is believed that the accident occured due to the driver's faulty driving under the influence of alcohol.

Locals rushed the injured to provide medical facilities. Seven ambulances from Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital (MCH), Koraput were called and seven other ambulances from Lakshmipur Medical were engaged in carrying the injured.
Fire brigade also reached the spot to rescue the trapped victims.
Koraput SDPO, Dasamantapur BDO and Tehsildar and other officials reached the spot alongwith police.
