Berhampur, Feb 18: In what indicates poachers are active in Ganjam jungles, a woman received a bullet injury while collecting Sal leaves in a jungle in Ganjam district's Bhanjanagar area last night.
The injured woman has been admitted to the Bhanjanagar Sub Divisional Hospital in a critical condition.
According to the information, the incident occurred in a jungle near Bedigoba village of Dadaralunda gram panchayat. The injured woman has been identified as Swapna Sahu (34).
Swapna and her mother had gone to the nearby jungle to collect Sal leaves. They were binding leaves to bunches when Swapna received a bullet in her belly. Her mother soon took her to their house but could not take her to the hospital as an ambulance could not be contacted. However, she was taken to the Bhanjanagar DHH this morning.

✨While the reason behind the shooting was yet to be known, villagers suspect that it might be the handiwork of poachers. Swapna received the bullet which might have been fired at a wild animal by poachers, they said.
