Burla, Feb 11: A young man from Subarnapur district went missing from a hospital in Odisha, leaving his family deeply anxious, a source said Wednesday.
Khageswar Dehuri, a resident of Adal village under Subalaya Police Station limits, was brought to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR), Burla, on February 8. Family members said he had been experiencing certain psychological issues and was taken to the hospital for medical consultation and treatment.
However, before he could receive treatment, he allegedly left the hospital premises without informing anyone.
When relatives could not locate him within the hospital campus, they began searching nearby areas. Despite repeated efforts, his whereabouts remain unknown.
The family lodged a written complaint at Subalaya Police Station regarding his disappearance. They have appealed to the public to assist in tracing him and requested that anyone who spots Khageswar Dehuri or has information about him immediately inform the family or the nearest police station.

The incident comes at a time when Odisha has reported notable success in tracing missing persons. Under “Operation Anweshan-2,” conducted from January 21 to January 30, 2026, police across districts, urban police units and the Railway Protection Police traced and rescued 5,451 missing persons, officials said.
According to official data, those rescued included 77 minor boys, 709 minor girls and 4,665 women. Police said the objective of the drive, carried out on the directions of Director General of Police Yogesh Bahadur Khurania, was to trace missing children and women, ensure their safety and facilitate their reunion with families.
