New Delhi, Jan 08:  Indian cricket fans have received a double blow with the news that star fast bowler Mohammed Shami and top-ranked T20 batsman Suryakumar Yadav are set to miss crucial matches due to injuries.

Shami, struggling with an ankle injury, is unlikely to play in the first two Tests against England starting January 25th. He hasn't resumed bowling and will need to prove his fitness at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) before being considered for selection.

Adding to the woes, world No.1 T20 batsman Yadav requires hernia surgery, potentially sidelining him for up to nine weeks. This pushes back his return beyond the England series but hopefully within the timeframe for the Indian Premier League (IPL).
