Nuapada, Nov 6: The political temperature in Nuapada soared on Thursday as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) intensified its campaign for candidate Jay Dholakia, with two Chief Ministers—Mohan Charan Majhi of Odisha and Vishnu Deo Sai of Chhattisgarh—joining the electoral push. Their presence marked a high-voltage day of canvassing ahead of the November 11 Nupada bypoll.

Odisha CM Mohan Majhi led a massive roadshow in Komna block, beginning with a floral tribute at the Ambedkar statue in Udyanbandh. He then rallied support for Jay Dholakia, urging voters to back BJP for development and stability.

Simultaneously, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai campaigned in Panchampur village under Kutbanbera panchayat. Congress Releases Manifesto

Amid the BJP blitz, the Congress party released its manifesto for the Nuapada poll. The grand old party’s promises include relief from migration, cold storage facilities, agro-based industries, forest rights, and filling vacant teaching posts.

However, questions have arisen about how these promises will be fulfilled if the party wins the seat but does not hold power at either the state or central level.

High-Voltage Campaign Ahead

Meanwhile, BJD leaders held a press conference reiterating past allegations against BJP and defending their governance record. BJD president Naveen Patnaik is expected to return to the campaign trail tomorrow, while Chhattisgarh Deputy CM Arun Sao will also campaign for BJP. Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav may join the final day of campaigning.

Notably, the November 11 Nuapada bypoll was necessitated by the demise of former BJD MLA Rajendra Dholakia. A total of 14 candidates are contesting the bypoll, including BJP’s Jay Dholakia, BJD nominee Snehangini Chhuria, and Congress candidate Ghasiram Majhi.
