Dharmagarh, Dec 12: At least 40 persons were injured, many of them critically, as a private bus in which they were travelling overturned on the Biju Expressway at Kenduguda under Amapani police limits in Kalahandi district on Sunday evening.
Out of 40 injured persons, 20 have been rushed to nearby hospitals in view of critical conditions and are undergoing treatment.
According to information, the ill-fated bus carrying more than 45 labourers, including women and children, was on its way from Deobhog in Chhattisgarh to Hyderabad when the driver lost control over the wheels, leading to the mishap.
Locals with help of 108 ambulances rushed severely injured persons to Koksara and Dharmagarh hospitals. The driver is stated to have been injured critically in the incident.
On being informed, police reached the spot and joined villagers in rescuing the injured.
