In a series of tweets in Odia, the State Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Department said that the lockdown will come into effect from Wednesday morning, May 5 to Wednesday morning, May 19.
However, people will be allowed to buy vegetables and other essential items walking within 500 meters from their residence between 6 am and 12 noon during the period.
The complete weekend shutdown on Saturday and Sunday will remain effective during this period, the I &PR Department added.
Today, Odisha reported highest ever surge of 8,015 fresh Covid-19 cases, taking the total number of Coronavirus cases of the State to 4,62,622 according to latest data of the Health Department.
Khordha district recorded the maximum number of fresh cases at 1275, followed by Sundargarh at 735, Angul at 525 and Cuttack at 482.
Currently, the State has 69,453 active cases.
