The Hirakud dam reservoir authorities will release the season’s first flood water from the dam at around 11 am on July 11.
Sambalpur, Jul 10: The Hirakud dam reservoir authorities will release the season’s first flood water from the dam at around 11 am tomorrow, officials said on Saturday.
“The season’s first flood water will be released from Hirakud dam reservoir at 11 am on July 11, following incessant rains in the upper basin of Mahanadi River,” said Additional Chief Engineer of Hirakud Headwork and Additional Spillway, Burla.
The dam authorities also requested the Collectors and SPs of 12 districts to take necessary measures as the water level in Mahanadi and other rivers downstream of Hirakud Dam will increase due to the release of the water from the reservoir.
The dam authorities have also asked the people not to venture into the Mahanadi River.
Last year, the dam authorities had released the first flood water from the dam on June 25.
