Dhenkanal, Dec 12: A group of mining mafias attacked a forest patrolling team in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district on Saturday, leaving seven officials injured.
As per reports, a group of around 25 mining mafias allegedly attacked the forest personnel when the latter stopped illegal laterite mining near Karadabeni under Sadangi Range in the distrct.
At least seven forest personnel including two forest guards sustained severe injuries in the attack.
The mafias also allegedly snatched away a service revolver and cell phones from the patrolling team.
The injured have been admitted to Barpada Community Health Centre (CHC) with the help of Nihal Prasad Police.
One Pramod Lenka was identified among the mafias who committed the crime, a forest official said.
Nihal Prasad Police launched a probe into the matter.
