According to reports, the State Government submitted the status report in a sealed cover as the investigation was still underway.
“A status report of the investigation of Mamita Meher killing case was submitted to the Orissa High Court in a sealed cover as investigation is still underway,” said a lawyer managing the case on behalf of the State Government.
The lawyer said the designated bench was informed that retired District Judge ABS Naidu has been appointed to investigate the case as per the advice of the High Court.
Senior Advocate Pitambar Acharya made a representation for the intervening petition. The court put up the matter for the next hearing on December 23.
