As per reports, the incident occurred when the car in which the victims were travelling in rammed into a stationary truck parked near Karadakotha under Purunakatak police limits in the district this morning
The deceased has been identified as Arun Meher of Tarabha area in Subarnapur in the district. He reportedly died on the spot.
Sources said, the mishap occurred when Arun along with four others were returning to his village after performing last rites of his father in Puri.
On being informed, Purunakatak police and Harbhanga fire personnel rushed to the spot and rescued the injured person.
They took the injured to the Community Health Centre in Purunakatak. After primary treatment, the injured persons were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital here for further treatment.
Meanwhile, Purunakatak police started a probe into the matter.
