In a tweet in Odia, Pradhan said, “I am saddened to hear the death of Atal Bihari Panda, a veteran artiste from western Odisha. He has garnered spectacular acclaim by performing flawlessly in many famous Sambalpuri films. Wish the departed soul rest in peace; condolences to the bereaved families.”
Renowned cine artiste Atal Bihari Panda died today at the age of 92 while undergoing treatment at Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Science and Research (VIMSAR) in Burla of Sambalpur district in Odisha.
Panda was admitted to VIMSAR following some geriatric related ailments few days ago. However, he breathed his last at 3.45 am following multiple organ failure, hospital sources said.
‘Sala Budha’ fame Panda was widely popular for his contribution to theatre art in western Odisha. He had worked in more than 100 plays and written over 60 dramas.
The veteran artiste made his debut in Sambalpuri movie ‘Sala Budha’. He had received the best actor award at the 25th State Film Awards for his performance in ‘Sala Budha’.
