Bhubaneswar, Apr 23: Union Petroleum and Natural Gas and Steel Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Friday said the steel fraternity has stood with the nation in the fight against coronavirus under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He said steel plants from across the country are supplying medical oxygen. More than 1.43 lakh MT liquefied medical oxygen (LMO) has been supplied by steel plants till now with steel CPSEs pitching in with over 39,000 MT.
Yesterday an OxygenTrain left from RINL, Vishakhapatnak steel plant for Maharashtra. Today, another OxygenTrain has left from the SAIL’s Bokaro steel plant for UP, he said.
In Delhi also, medical oxygen is being supplied from steel plants in Odisha with the SAIL’s Rourkela Steel Plant and Tata Steel’s Kalinganagar Plant contributing.
“I thank all the steel companies for coming together and responding to the call of the nation and working 24x7 to produce medical oxygen. We will together fight the COVID-19 pandemic,” tweeted Pradhan.
