As per the report, some villagers first spotted the carcass in the morning and called up Forest Department officials post which the jumbo death came to light.
After Forest staff reached the spot and carried out preliminary investigation multiple injury marks were found on the carcass. The carcass was later sent for autopsy.
It seems the tusker, aged around 22 years died after being hurt by other tuskers during a suspected fight, said Forest staff.
Worth mentioning, on February 9 a wild elephant had been electrocuted to death in the district after coming in contact with high voltage electric wire.
