Sambalpur, Dec 12: In yet another case of child abandonment in the State, a newborn girl was found from the roadside in Kuchinda area here on Saturday morning.
As per the report, one Surendra Sethi of Ghusa villa had been to attend nature’s call at around 3 am in the wee hours today when heard the crying of the baby. He rescued the baby from a bush subsequently.
Later, Surendra and his wife called up district Childline officials to intimate the matter and rushed the baby to Kuchinda Sub-Division Hospital for health checkup.
The child was found in good health post the checkup by the doctors.
Kuchinda Police was informed about the matter and vaccination of the baby was done after the arrival of the Childline officials at the hospital.
While the childline officials have decided to keep the baby at Sambalpur Sishu Kalyan Samiti, Surendra and his wife has expressed their interest to adopt the child.
“Being a childless couple post 12 years of the marriage we appeal the government to handover the child to us. We need to adopt the baby,” said Surendra to media.
