“A low pressure area likely to be formed over north Bay of Bengal & neighbourhood around June 11 while southwest monsoon is likely to advance into most parts of Odisha under its influence, widespread rainfall activity with isolated heavy to very heavy and isolated heavy falls likely over the districts of Odisha within June 10 to 14,” predicted the Regional Meteorological Centre.
The weather office issued yellow warning predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur and Cuttack and isolated heavy rainfall over the districts of Dhenkanal, Puri, Angul, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Boudh and Kandhamal between 8.30am of June 10 and 8.30am of June 11.
It also issued orange warning predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places with extremely heavy falls it isolated places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Angul and Dhenkanal from June 11 morning to 8.30am of June 12.
It said, due to heavy rains, water-logging and localized/flash flood might occur in some places and kutcha roads may be damaged. Traffic congestion and disruption of municipal services might occur due to water logging in urban areas and damage of horticultural crops/vegetables in some areas due to inundation, it observed.
As regards to wind forecast, it said strong surface wind speed reaching 40 to 50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph likely to prevail over west central Bay of Bengal and adjoining north Bay of Bengal on June 10 and along & off Odisha coast, north Bay of Bengal and adjoining west central Bay of Bengal from June 11 onwards.
The weather office has advised fishermen to return to coast from deep sea by June 10.
