At least two persons involved in pangolin smuggling have been arrested in connection with the case. They are identified as Somnath Bag and Marsanal Bhengera of Sonepur district.
Acting upon a tip-off the STF officials conducted raid in Rajakothi area last evening and detained the accused duo. During search live Pangolin and Pangolin scales weighing around 5.65 kg were found to be seized.
Cases under relevant sections of Wildlife (Protection) Act have been lodged against the held accused duo as they failed to produce any valid document supporting the possession of the Pangolin and they have been forwarded to Subarnapur SDJM Court.
The seized Pangolin scale will be sent to the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun for chemical examination, said officials.
