Bhubaneswar, Apr 11: A BJP team comprising MLAs Mukesh Mahalinga, Nauri Nayak, Nityananda Gond and Kusum Tete on Sunday met the Chief Electoral Officer, Odisha and urged him to take legal action against all those who attacked party workers during by-poll campaigning in Pipili yesterday.
The leaders apprised the CEO that some BJD activists had attacked BJP booth president Saroj Sethi and leader Rashmirekha Das during campaigning at Saharajpur under the Pipili police limits on Saturday. The party lodged a complaint with the Pipili police soon. However, the police have not taken any action against the culprits.
The leaders urged the CEO to direct the police to take action against the errant and ensure a free and fair by-poll in Pipili, scheduled to be held on April 17.
