The Odisha Government on Saturday told the State Assembly that it would examine and take steps to open the Ratna Bhandar (Treasure House) of the Shree Jagannath Temple, Puri on receipt of a proposal from concerned authorities.

Bhubaneswar, Jul 16: The Odisha Government on Saturday told the State Assembly that it would examine and take steps to open the Ratna Bhandar (Treasure House) of the Shree Jagannath Temple, Puri on receipt of a proposal from concerned authorities.

Law Minister Jagannath Saraka informed this in the State Assembly in response to a question of Opposition Chief Whip Mohan Charan Majhi.

The Minister too informed the House that the Government has sold out a total of 343.656 acres of land belonging to the Jagannath Temple so far.

In a related question asked by Congress MLA Dasharathi Gamang, the Minister said that repair works can be done in the Ratna Bhanda as and when required as per the recommendations of the Raghubira Das Commission report.
