Sundargarh, April 16: Amid the surge in Covid-19 cases, the Sarpanch of Balisankara gram panchayat (GP) under Balisankara block in Odisha’s Sundargarh district on Friday declared a complete lockdown at the panchayat for seven days staring from today.
The lockdown will remain in force at Balisankara GP from April 16 to April 24 to contain possible spread of Coronavirus in the area., an official release stated today.
All commercial establishments under Balisankara GP will be closed and people’s movement will be restricted in villages. However, the shops selling essential commodities, groceries and dairy products will remain open for two hours from 7.00 am to 11.00 am, said the release.
The district administration has already declared Telijor village under Balisankara GP as micro containment zone.
Sundargarh district today reported 523 fresh COVID-19 case in last 24 hours.
