Bhubaneswar, Dec 23: The BJP on Wednesday severely criticised the Naveen Patnaik Government for naming Central schemes, particularly Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural), as its own and said it would launch a two-day a statewide campaign against the “treachery” on December 28 and 29.
Addressing a Press meet, BJP general secretary Prithviraj Harichandan pulled up the Government for not publishing the list of the eligible people who have been deprived of a house in the Prime Minister Awas Yojana (Rural) for the last 10 months.
“After the BJP opposed the allocation of houses to BJD supporters and workers, the State Government on February 7 put up boxes for receiving grievances from eligible persons who were deprived of PMAY houses. It was then decided that the names of persons lodged complaints would be published at village and panchyat levels on February 25. Then a survey would be conducted to find out deserving persons. However, the Government has not published any list even as 10 months have passed,” said Harichandan.
He alleged that the Government has adopted a deceitful way again to gain mileage from PMAY projects funded by the Union Government by putting stickers on house walls with mentions of PMAY in abbreviated form as “Pra Aa Yo” in small size Odia letters and Piju Pucca Ghar Yojana in big size Odia letters. The Chief Minister has also written a letter to the Union Government to mislead the people of the Odisha.
Again, the State Government is circulating a format which is also an act of treachery. The format is being circulated to beneficiaries and information of bank account and IFSC code are being sought. The officials are telling people that the State Government would send Rs 10,000 directly to their account for repairing of houses. “The Government has taken another move to cheat people ahead of panchayat elections,” alleged Harichandan.
The BJP leader stated that the Narendra Modi Government had provided Rs 6,218 crore in 2017-18, Rs 4925 crore in 2018-19 and Rs 2,675 crore in 2019-20 for PMAY houses where as the State Government had spent Rs 668 crore, Rs 830 crore and Rs 200 crore for the three years, respectively under the Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana.
He said the BJP will undertake an agitation at all blocks where copies of the letter written by the CM would be torn and burnt by party workers on December 28. Party workers will lodge FIRs against agencies who are printing stickers.
