Puri, Apr 24: In view of rising cases of Covid-19 cases, the Shree Jagannath Temple here in Odisha will remain closed for ‘darshan’ by devotees till May 15, informed the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) on Saturday.
All the daily rituals in the 12th-century shrine will continue with help of Sevayats and temple officials, said the Temple administration.
“All preparations for the construction of chariots will continue as per traditions. The SJTA will take advance steps for procurement of masks and sanitisers for use during Chandan Yatra, Snana Yatra, and Rath Yatra” it added.
The decision was taken after a high-level meeting chaired by SJTA chief Krishan Kumar today.
Puri District Collector Samarth Verma, Puri SP Kanwar Vishal Singh, senior Sevayats of various Nijogs and temple officials attended the meeting through video conferencing.
