“The above info I shared about the missing ODRAF person as received from my office appears to be wrong. One decomposed body that is found is not identified by the family. Mr Murmu’s body not yet traced. Wrong info shared is deeply regretted,” posted Jena minutes after expressing grief over the sad demise of Murmu who was an expert diver.
The correction tweet by Jena followed the disapproval of Murmu’s death by the ODRAF authorities. They claimed the search is on at four places including Munduli, Naraj, Kathajodi and Jobra in which eight boats have been engaged.
Notably, a team of five to six ODRAF personnel ventured into the water of Munduli barrage to rescue an elephant stuck in the middle of the river. Arindam and Pravat accompanied them to cover the entire operation. But much to their misfortune, the inflatable motor boat stopped working after being sucked into a whirlpool and overturned.
While three of the ODRAF members and Prabhat were rescued later in critical condition, Arindam was swept fighting till the last minutes. He succumbed while being shifted to SCB Medical post rescue.
Murmu remains untraceable despite intense search by ODRAF teams.
