In its latest forecast, IMD has predicted widespread rainfall at most places in the State during next five days.
The IMD issued an orange warning of heavy rain for the districts of Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Angul, Sambalpur from 8.30 am of today to 8.30 am of Friday.
It also issued a yellow warning of heavy rainfall for the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Malkangiri, Koraput, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Subarnapur and Nabarangpur during the period.
“Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nawarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri from 8.30 am of today to 8.30 am of Friday,” said the latest bulletin.
The State government has directed all district collectors and municipal commissioners to remain prepared for tackling situations like flash flood, landslides, water-logging and any other eventualities due to very heavy rains across the State.
