“Due to callous attitude of the Odisha Government, the power tariff has been increased even when consumers are going through hard times of corona pandemic. It has put extra financial burden on 92 lakh electricity consumers of the State,” alleged BJP State President Samir Mohanty at a Press meet held at the party head office here on Tuesday.
Mohanty expressed unhappiness saying that unreported power cuts are happening rapidly across the State as a result of which students are facing troubles in getting their mobile batteries charged and taking online classes.
“Why the State Government is silent over the sheer negligence being committed by power distribution companies,” wanted to know Mohanty. He said that the Odisha Government is wholly responsible for the sufferings of the people, particularly students, across the State.
Mohanty demanded that the State Government publish a whitepaper on steps being taken by it to resolve the problems. He also informed that his party activists will stage protests at all electricity offices for a week from July 14 to 20.
