The Governor claimed that the law and order situation in the State was peaceful and under control in the year 2020. Due to timely steps, the Odisha Government could bring the Covid 19 pandemic under control and check deaths due the deadly virus.
“The Covid pandemic put a serious challenge to the income and spending of the State. The amount of Contingency Fund was increased from Rs 400 crore to Rs 2,000 crore so that easy flow of funds were available for combating Covid pandemic,” said the Governor.
The Governor told the Assembly that as many as 49 Police personnel have sacrificed their lives while discharging duty as Covid warriors and 940 police personnel have donated plasma to save the lives of critical COVID patients.
To provide support to the MSME sector for job creation, the Government announced a special package of Rs 289 crore during the Covid pandemic period, he said.
The Governor also highlighted about various programmes undertaken in health, education and agriculture sectors in the State. He informed that poor people have been given health insurance coverage of Rs 5 lakh (Rs 10 lakh in case of women) under the Biju Swatshya Kalyan Yojana. He said the Government has created various facilities for transportation of pregnant women in areas having poor road communication.
He said his Government will continue taking steps to expedite developmental works in the health, education, electricity supply, agriculture and irrigation sectors in coming days.
