The BJD MLA from Brajrajnagar constituency died of cardiac arrest at a hospital in Jharsuguda, Odisha this evening. He was 63.
In a series of tweets in Odia, Pradhan remembered Mohanty and said that his death has left an indelible mark on Odisha politics.
“I am saddened on the death of former Odisha Speaker, Ex-Rajya Sabha MP and Brajrajnagar MLA Kishore Mohanty. In 2000, Kishore bhai and I were elected to the Legislature together. In 2004, when I was the Member of Parliament from Deogarh Lok Sabha constituency, he was the MLA of Jharsuguda,” the Union Minister tweeted.
“Recently, I met with Kishore bhai and his family after offering prayers at Srimandir in Puri. I can't believe that he's not among us today. In western Odisha, he had a reputation for being veracious and strong politician. His death has left an indelible mark on Odisha politics,” he said.
“He will always be remembered for his work as a people's representative. May the departed soul rest in peace! May Lord Jagannath give strength and courage to the bereaved family,” he added.
