According to sources, Prof Radha Mohan was was undergoing treatment in ICU of the private hospital for last few days. He was being treated for pneumonia, sources added.
Born on January 30, 1943, at Rangani Patna village in the ex-princely State of Nayagarh, Radha Mohan started his career as an academician. He taught Economics in different Government colleges in the State. He retired as Principal, SCS College (Autonomous), Puri, in January 2001.
He also served as State Information Commissioner and Member of State Planning Board.
Prof. Radha Mohan and his daughter Sabarmatee were conferred with India's fourth highest civilian honour - the Padma Shri - for their work in agriculture last year.
The father-daughter duo had sown the seed of organic farming in a small patch of land in Nayagarh district, which has now become a huge tree spreading its roots deep as a state wide movement.
Apart from organic farming they have made phenomenal work in conservation of forests, water and soil harvesting and collection of more than 800 varieties of indigenous seeds.
United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) had conferred him ‘The Global Roll of Honour’ for his contribution in the field of environment.
