A low pressure area is expected to form in the Bay of Bengal by June 11. This will help in the progress of the monsoon and it is likely to advance into Odisha, the IMD added.
Under the influence of likely formation of low pressure area over north bay of Bengal, strong surface wind speed reaching 40 to 50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph likely to prevail over westcentral Bay of Bengal and, adjoining North bay of Bengal on 10th and along and off Odisha coast, North bay of Bengal and adjoining westcentral Bay of Bengal from June 11 onwards, it said.
Meanwhile, the IMD issued a yellow weather warning for several districts in the State during next 24 hours.
“Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Mayurbhanj till 8.30 am of Wednesday,” said the latest bulletin.
“Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Boudh, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj till 8.30 am of Wednesday,” it added.
There will be no large change in Maximum temperature (Day temperature) during next 2 days and fall thereafter by 3-4 degree Celsius in the State.
