Bhubaneswar, Jun 8: In order to strengthen the special task force (STF) of the Odisha Police, the State Government has created 27 new posts, including one SP and three DSP rank posts, informed DGP Abhay here on Tuesday.
Addressing a Press meet, the DGP said the STF had performed better in checking illegal drugs trade in the State and the Odisha Police had sent proposals to the Government to further strengthen the wing.
Besides creating new posts, the State Government has also approved a proposal for creation of special narcotic unit. More steps will be taken to strengthen the STF in coming days, he said.
Abhay thanked Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for accepting proposals of the Odisha police to strengthen the STF. He said the STF will play a vital role in stopping trade of contraband items and checking other criminal activities, asserted the DGP.
