Locals under the banner of Uttar Bhubaneswar Unnayan Parishad blocked the NH at Hanspala Chhak for an hour to put pressure on concerned authorities to fulfil their all demands.
The demands include construction of a barrage in Kuakhai river, widening of service roads on both sides of the NH and widening of both side roads of the Puri Canal.
“Accidents are occurring often here. Road work is going at a snail’s pace. NH Over-bridge should be completed soon and service roads widened at the earliest,” demanded activists.
They said construction of a barrage on the Kuakhai River is a need of hour now. “After a few years, residents of Bhubaneswar will not get water to drink. A barrage should be constructed so that water can be reserved for use in non-monsoon season,” said the activists.
The agitators cleared the road after police assured them of appropriate steps.
