Cuttack, Jan 4: The Bharatiay Janata Party (BJP) on Monday staged protests outside all blocks in Cuttack district demanding immediate resignation of Mahanga MLA and Law Minister Pratap Jena for his alleged involvement in the brutal murder of party leader Kulamani Baral and his associate Dibya Singh Baral in Mahanga on Saturday.
The party activists sat on dharna in front of block offices at Mahanga, Nischintakoili, Salepur, Cuttack Sarar, Kantapada, Niali, Tigiria, Athagarh, Narasinghpur and Badamaba, according to party sources.
They too demanded arrest of Minister Jena and 13 others who have been named in the FIR lodged by Kulamani’s son Ramakant Baral at the Mahanga police station. In the FIR, Ramakant alleged that ruling BJD workers killed his father Kulamani at the behest of Jena as he had raised objections to the alleged frauds in the allotment of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).
Notably, Baral along with his associate Dibyasingha Baral were going on a bike when they were brutally attacked by some miscreants at Jankoti on Saturday. While the two were rushed to Mahanga hospital, Kulamani declared dead there. Later Dibyasingha succumbed to injuries under treatment at the SCB Medical in Cuttack on Sunday morning.
