Angul, Feb 27: Unearthing yet another job fraud case, police arrested at least three persons including a couple from Rajkishorepada area under Angul Police Station for swindling away money from a gullible youth by promising him employment on Friday.
As per the report, the accused couple identified as Ranjan Tripathy (30) and his wife Mitali Tripathy (27) had published a misleading recruitment notice in an Odia daily newspaper under the caption ‘Steel and Power Plant Jobs’ on December 5 last year.
Believing in the advertisement one Padal Dharma Rao of Paralakhemundi had sent his CV to the mail ID mentioned in the advertisement for job. After getting Rao’s mobile number from the CV, the couple contacted him over phone on different occasions and told to deposit Rs 52,000 in their Bank of Baroda in total to get the appointment letter, which he followed.
However, on Dec 25 Rao felt cheated after the accused couple told him to deposit Rs 15,000 more for the same purpose. He immediately took the matter to the notice of Angul Police and lodged an FIR.
After conducting investigation, Angul Police came to know that the couple is involved in cheating gullible investors on the promise of providing them jobs in Steel and Power sector.
Police seized 3 bank passbooks, 3 ATM cards, 3 mobile phones, AADHAAR and PAN cards and a Honda Unicorn motorcycle from the couple after arresting them on Friday.
Another youth namely Ranjan Kumar Sahu was also taken into custody for helping the accused couple in the crime.
Notably, in a similar case the Twin City Commissionerate Police had arrested a youth from Dhauli area for duping several gullible youths of lakhs of rupees by promising them jobs in police, railway and other departments. He was running a job racket by teaming up with his wife, who is on the run now.
