Bhubaneswar, Mar 18: Law Minister Pratap Jena landed in controversy again by airing an “irresponsible” statement vis-a-vis BJP members’ visit to Naveen Niwas on Thursday. He indirectly termed the Opposition members as “sin makers” .
While BJP members undertook a “Search for CM” drive and moved to the Chief Minister’s resident to apprise him about Mandi mismanagement and non-procurement of paddy, Jena said BJP members will get sanctified after keeping feet in the holy Naveen Niwas.
“BJP members are doing a shemeful act. They are coming to Naveeen Niwas. Still we welcome them. Naveen Niwas is a historic and holy place. Legendary Biju Patnaik had pursued his political life here. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik initiated his political life here and has successfully served people of the State. BJP members will be sanctified once they come to the Naveen Niwas ,” said Jena.
Jena uttered the word "shameful", targeted at the BJP," at least four times while giving his comment to reportes.
Commenting on Jena’s statement, a senior journalist said, “The importance of Opposition parties in a State Legislature is very high. Without an Opposition, democracy can’t be strengthened. They are also lawmakers. They have all right to raise various issues before the Leader of the House (Chief Minister) and seek solution to them in people’s interest. What Jena said regarding BJP members’ visit to Naveeen Niwas shows how stubborn is he?”
Stating that such an “irresponsible” statement is not at all expected from a senior Minister, the political analyst said, “It seems that Jena has turned out to be an arrogant person after remaining in power for so many years.”
